1819 Harvey Settlement:

>>> Prairie Township trace its beginings back to the "Harvey neighborhood" settlement. The first to arrive in the Spring of 1819 was Benjamin Harvey, settling his family about three miles north of Asahel Woodward. William Harvey, his father, soon followed along with Uriah Bulla, John Harris, Samuel Howard, and Barclay "Bartley" Benbow. These families were the first to settle in what was first known as the "Harvey neighborhood". The Harvey neighborhood included the City of New Castle and extended northward for four or five miles. During this time other neighborhoods also formed. The "Leavell neighborhood" included the southeast portion of Liberty and the eastern portion of Dudley. The "Heaton neighborhood" included old West Liberty, on either side of the Blue River for two to three miles beyond the site of Knightstown. These neighborhoods made up almost all of Henry County. On 11 June 1822 Prairie township was erected and lines drawn by the County Commissioners froming along a 20 mile long and 8 mile wide area.

[????] Unknown Cemetery Burial:

Jemima Page Harvey; d. unknown; age: unknown; note: Wife of William; Buried at the Harvey Cemetery (aka: Samuel Howard Cemetery), Prairie Twp, Henry Co., IN. According to the "1902 Biographical Memoirs of Henry County, Indiana", Jemima Page Harvey lived to the age of nearly 100 years. This caught my interest, taking a closer look at the 1840 and 1850 censuses for all of William's sons, I found that Benjamin Harvey had an unknown female, aged 80 to 90 years old, living with his family during 1840. This would make her born anytime from 1751 to 1760.
